Tips for a Perfect Fit
You’ve found the wedding dress of your dreams. Let Liliana work her magic to make it perfect!
Whether you’ve purchased a designer or couture gown, want to create a custom gown, restore a used gown, or restyle and modernize a vintage dress, the options for alterations are nearly endless. Liliana’s passion for design and eye for detail will ensure you look great sitting, standing, and walking down the aisle in whichever style you choose.
To help ensure you get a flawless fit, Liliana offers the following recommendations:
- If possible, purchase a size larger than your normal size – it’s easier to take seams in than to let them out.
- Bring the shoes and undergarments you plan to wear to obtain the proper fit and length of your gown.
- Bring your accessories, including your veil, hairpieces, and jewellery, to help achieve the right balance and overall look.
- Bring a trusted friend or relative for a second opinion. However, bringing all of your bridesmaids might prevent you from focusing on critical details.
- Allow two to three months from the time of your first fitting to your last to account for weight changes and time to complete the work.
- On the day of your final fitting, bring your maid of honor or someone in your wedding party so they can become familiar with how your dress or bustle works.
Liliana has extensive experience with many types of fabrics, hemming, taking in seams, adding appliqués and beading, sewing in built-in bra cups, creating bustles, working with boning, and accounting for many other intricacies and complexities typical of wedding gowns and formal attire.
